I really enjoyed this piece by Giuseppe Penone called “Tree of 12 Metres.” There is something beautiful about taking a man-made/milled/manipulated item, and then carving it back to resemble the organic form that it once was before we touched it in the first place. Quite poetic.
Damien Hurst’s exhibition at the tate modern was thrilling. It was outrageous, arrogant, outlandish, thoughtful, meticulous, grotesque, and beautiful. Butterflies paintings contrasted with paintings made from dead flies.. live flies, live butterflies, dead animals in formaldehyde, diamonds, and pills contrasted with cigarettes. wow.
