Nasan Tur‘s installation at the Hamburger Bahnhoff’s “Wall Works” shows a large wall so full of spray painted words that it is a dappled solid red. Paint cans strewn across the gallery floor. It took a lot of words, time, and paint to fill this wall up. There’s a video of the execution of the […]
This weekend I had the insane pleasure of peeking in on Gallery Weekend Berlin. I got to see some incredible art. One artist in particular stood out to me: Bjöern Dahlem at Galerie Guido W. Baudach. His installation “Orbits of High Velocity Starts” is this gorgeous tangled floating wood with balls of various light fixtures […]
Loving Katharina Grosse‘s “I Think This Is A Pine Tree” at the Hamburger Bahnhof. I can’t wait to see if I can make it to this exhibition in person. via Art thing: The Queen of the spray gun and its object-painting – Culture – Berliner Morgenpost. (german article) more images on her site here. Update 5/7/2014: […]
Preview Berlin was a really interesting experience. There was a wide variety of work represented and some absolutely stunning pieces.
The Hamburger Bahnhof was absolutely stunning. The Bruce Nauman show was INCREDIBLE.
6th Berlin Biennale: Oranienplatz 17 Building. There were a lot of videos so I dont have as many photos for this building as I do the KW.
Here is a general gallery of pieces in the KW building of the Biennale. It was an extremely well crafted exhibition and all the pieces flowed greatly into each other. I seriously enjoyed the exhibition and was actually rather overwhelmed with the care, craft, and intensity of some of the pieces. The videos below the […]
In case you couldn’t tell, I’m really into Petrit Halilaj’s work at the Biennale. Here is a piece he did where he floated a feather in a water tank. He had little motors in the water to blow water on the feather. It created this eternal lovely subtle flowing motion like in air. It was […]
Here is another piece in the KW building of the Berlin Biennale done by Pertit Halilaj. This one was particularly stunning when you first see it, and surprising when you walk around it. It also had some tie-in to the primitive nature of his previous piece and the earthy smell of it was particularly wonderful. […]
One of the first things I saw when I walked into the KW building of the Berlin Biennale was a massive piece done by Petrit Halilaj. His structure filled the room with its rudimentary forms, looking very primitive in its construction but leaving you feeling like there is something almost magical about it. That might […]
Mark Boulos did this great piece in the KW building of the 6th Berlin Biennale. The title of the piece is “All That Is Solid Melts Into Air” There were two video screens facing each other. One had stock market video going on with men looking upset about the outcome. The other screen was impoverished […]
The gallery that Jason works at here in Berlin is called MMX Open Art Venue. Its really awesome and inspiring. I wish there were more cool galleries like this in Birmingham.
When walking around we came across this sign pointing us in the direction of a gallery… Yay! Turns out it was just a construction site. Zur Galerie Fail.
Along with my friends Jason and Kat we went to the Martin-Gropius-Bau to see the Olafur Eliasson Exhibition. I was completely blown away. It was so well put together and so beautiful. the magnitude at which the exhibition was crafted and the detail in every piece made me speechless. Unfortunately I was yelled at when […]
